Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow in Silver Strike, Electric Blue, Inked in Pink, Gold Rush, and Barely Branded

About a year ago Maybelline introduced make up lovers to their new collection of cream eyeshadows called the 24 HR Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows. When they released last year everyone was going nuts trying to collect them all as if they were gold nuggets. Well here we are a year later and the Color Tattoo line is still going strong. For Spring 2013 Maybelline debuts these new Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow in some gorgeous shades!

The Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadows comes in glass pots with black plastic lids. For cream products glass pots are best to prevent the eyeshadow from drying up. This type of packaging is very similar to the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow, almost identical. The only downside to the packaging is that each shadow is heavy like a small rock which doesn't make them ideal for travelling.

On the top of the lid is the product information and which shade the shadow is. On the bottom is another label that displays the logo for the collection. I love that the bottoms are see through for storage purposes!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadows (L-R) 75 Electric Blue, 55 Inked in Pink, 60 Silver Strike, 70 Barely Branded, and 65 Gold Rush

These are all of the shades available in this Spring 2013 collection. There's certainly a variety to chose from and all of them are very wearable for everyday eye looks. I'm excited to create a look using that navy blue shade!

Electric Blue is a deep navy blue with silver sparkle that contributes to the shimmery metallic finish. This shade is very pigmented and easy to blend into the skin. You can definitely sheer this color out if you want a more muted color on the eyelids.

pink

Inked in Pink is warm sort of dusty pink with a metallic finish. In the pot you can see some dark pink, silver, and dark red shimmer. This shade wasn't as pigmented as I expected but the color can be built up easily with a couple coats. Inked in Pink was easy to blend into the skin as well.

silverstrike

Silver Strike is a very shimmery cool silver, liquid metal almost! Out of all the shades this one applied the smoothest. I really like that this silver isn't a dark silver as some silver cream eyeshadows are. This is super bright and vivid! Though if you don't want it that bright you can sheer it out easily.

Barely Branded is a peachy champagne with a strong shimmer finish. Out of the collection, Barely Branded is the most versatile and easy to wear because you can just sweep it over the eyelid without putting to much thought into it. Just like the other colors, Barely Branded applied very smoothly.

goldrush

Gold Rush is a vivid yellow gold. In the past Maybelline released a Color Tattoo called Bold Gold but it's not in any way similar to Gold Rush. Bold Gold is more of a dirty bronze gold. This color applied a little bit patchy/streaky and it took a couple layers to get Gold Rush true to color.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadows. I think these eyeshadows are a great price and great quality. I love that Maybelline chose to do a variety of shades and not all neutrals. All had great pigmentation except for Gold Rush and Inked in Pink, though you can build the color up. My favorites from the collection are Electric Blue, Silver Strike, and Barely Branded. In terms of longevity they lasted about eight hours without a primer (my eyelids are naturally oily). I find that they stain the eyelid once dried but it's not something to worry about, a little makeup remover will do the trick. In my opinion I find it's best to apply these eyeshadows with a finger because the warmth of your skin will create a creamier formula, making it easier to blend on the eyelid. Though if you choose a brush, a synthetic brush would work best since synthetic hairs don't stain with cream or liquid products. Also you can wear these cream shadows as bases for powder eyeshadow to intensify the color. In conclusion I'm thrilled that Maybelline is continuing to add new colors to the Color Tattoo line because so far none have disappointed!
