MAC Lipstick in Rebel

During the winter I often gravitate to darker lipsticks to contrast my pale skin. When I went to MAC last week I spent a good time swatching lipsticks trying to decide which color I wanted to buy. I must have swatched at least 25 up and down my arm. I typically go for dark reds or nude but this time I decided to try a dark purple. I'm a huge fan of the MAC satin finish lipsticks so Rebel was the way to go.

MAC lipsticks come in a black plastic bullet shaped container. Sleek and portable. The bottom label indicates the type of finish and the color. This lipstick is a 'satin' finish and is called Rebel. On the side of the tube is the MAC logo. I really like the packaging especially how smooth the lipstick twists up. Rebel also has the iconic vanilla scent found in almost every MAC product.

In the tube MAC Rebel lipstick looks very dark and intimidating to wear but it's much lighter when applied to the lips. Rebel is a dark berry red with a glossy sheen. I feel that this color would suit every skin tone because you can customize it to your liking, you can wear it sheer or dark and bold. I love this lipstick so much and I'm so glad I purchased it because the contrast between the dark lip and my fair skin is gorgeous! In terms of application the formula was very smooth and easy to apply to the lips and it left a nice sheen so I wouldn't need to apply a lip gloss over top. Since it is a dark color I recommend using a lip brush to apply the lipstick so you can avoid going outside the lines. The color does stain the lips temporarily which helps with the staying power. Without eating or drink the lipstick lasted around four hours with noticeable fading. Eating and drinking will decrease the lasting power significantly.
